Microdermabrasion remains a popular and effective treatment for exfoliation of the skin. According to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery National Data Bank Statistics, 498,821 microdermabrsion procedures were performed in 2012.
What Is It?
Sun exposure and the aging process create lines, wrinkles, and changes in the texture and color of our skin. Old skin cells are sloughed in a process called exfoliation. This natural process of cell renewal slows with increased age and that dead cell layer stays trapped on our skin. Skin Resurfacing can reduce these effects and visible signs of aging on our skin. For centuries, abrasive agents have been used to help remove blemishes and rough spots and make the skin smooth and soft.
Microdermabrasion was developed in Europe in the mid-1990’s and has been remained a popular skin treatment procedure since that time. Aluminum oxide crystals are projected onto the skin in a safe and uniform manner to painlessly abrade and exfoliate layers of the epidermis. These crystals, along with dead skin cells, are vacuumed into a closed filter container and discarded. A control gauge allows for increased vacuum for a more aggressive peel and decreased vacuum for a more gentle peel. Microdermabrasion provides effective exfoliation of the skin, stripping away the old cells, unclogging pores, and providing a smoother, healthier appearance to the skin.
Crystal Microdermabrasion with MEGAPeel®
The MegaPeel® is the safest and most accurate crystal microdermabrasion system in the industry. To abrade away a small amount of skin – that is precisely what MegaPeel® does. Uniform removal of the superficial dead cells thickens the epidermis and increases the production of new cells along with the production of collagen and elastin. All skin types can be treated with the MegaPeel®.
Crystal-free Microdermabrasion with DiamondTome™
Why is the DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing so unique? DiamondTome™ offers an innovative approach for applying the millennia old technique of dermabrasion. By eliminating the powders and crystals (aluminum oxide and salt) utilized in older microdermabrasion techniques, DiamondTome™ has made skin rejuvenation the clean, controlled procedure it should be.
DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing treatments are for men and women interested in improving the appearance and health of their skin; and can be used on any skin type. DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing is a treatment that improves lines and wrinkles, skin texture and color by removing the top most layer of skin leaving it more supple and vibrant. Skin resurfacing also stimulates the elastic tissue beneath the skin, resulting in a healthier and firmer appearance.
A wonderful alternative or compliment to chemical peels, the DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing treatment is non-invasive, painless and requires no down time from work or social activities. DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing can be safely and effectively used on the face, neck, chest, cleavage, arms, and hands. The length of the treatment and number of treatments vary depending on skin type and condition. Following a consultation, our aesthetician will decide what treatment is appropriate for you. Results are gradual but highly effective. Most people experience softer, smoother skin after their first treatment.
Microdermabrasion offers benefits to anyone who wants to improve specific skin conditions and rejuvenate the overall health and appearance of their skin. Results are improved when used in combination with a personalized skin care program.

Care and Treatment
The process of microdermabrasion should be approached in a series of at least five peels in order obtain a lasting effect. Individuals are treated every 1-2 weeks depending on their needs. A proper skin program including Retin-A, topical Vitamin C, and prescription hydroquinone (when needed), helps provide long lasting improvement in the skin. Specific instructions as they relate to your skin will be provided following your treatments.
