Human fat harvested from a patient’s own body can be re-injected to enhance facial fullness and smooth lines. Autologous fat grafting or micro-lipoinjection involves extracting fat cells from the patient’s abdomen, thighs, buttocks or elsewhere and re-injecting them beneath the facial skin. Fat is most often used to enhance facial fullness, add volume to cheeks, nasolabial folds or marionette lines, to correct skin depressions or indentations, and to enhance the lips.
